Pash, aka Saxopash, and his saxophone Inzwi
"My school had lots of old, unused instruments, and we were encouraged to choose something to play. I went to have a look. My teacher said, ‘You’re a small guy. You’re going to need to play something that attracts the girls.’ He was so right. Everyone loves the sax.
Inzwi is my third saxophone. Inzwi means ‘the voice’ in Shona, and she really is my voice. She enables me to say things that I’d never imagine saying out loud. She gives me a way to communicate.
Dancehall, reggae, blues or rock’n’roll, it doesn’t matter what I’m playing, you can really tell my emotional state by the way I’m playing. Inzwi has been with me through the most monumental moments of my life. She is my life."
